SUPANOVA PERTH Finished!

So we finished up with our Gamer Tonight table at Supanova Perth today! It was extremely exciting.

At the start of the day we had a few fans come by to say hello, which was great. Then at about mid day I set up the laptop and my WACOM drawing pad facing the crowd and started to animate for the public. This gathered quite a crowd, as I was animating a topless fat kid cosplaying Naruto with bouncing man boobs. Made for a great laugh by the end of the day.

Whilst doing the public animation display, I was approached by an overwhelming amount of people who had seen the series on Good Game, Newgrounds and even just here!

This was the first time in my life I've ever been approached by fans like this, because my work is never attached to my face in any way. It was truly an amazing experience.

At one point I was standing next to the "Dragon Ball Z: BURST LIMIT" demo kiosk, when a kid pointed at my GT shirt and said "Lol! Gamer Tonight!". I snickered and just kept waiting for my turn. Then he asked me "Where'd you get that shirt?", to which I nervously responded.. "I.. Made.. Gamer Tonight?". Upon hearing this the kids eyes lighted up, widened and his pupils seemed to shrink. At first he didn't believe me, but eventually he figured I wasn't taking the piss. He started to signal to his friends that I was the creator of Gamer Tonight and started to ask if he could take a picture with me. This was something I've never experienced before, so yeah.. It really blew me away.

So more and more viewers and fans kept coming by to talk to me whilst I animated, which was great! Then out of no where this guy walked over rather fast. He was in a Supanova uniform... I figured he was here to tell me for drawing Naruto with bouncing man boobs in front of children, but he was there for something else. Turns out this guy was the guy responsible for interviewing and taking care of the celebrities at the event.. And he was a big Gamer Tonight fan (he blew off Jewel from Firefly just to come see me o_O). We talked for a bit and somewhere in between it all I revealed my Dragon Ball Z fandom. He then went on to tell me that he was going to be interviewing Sean Schemmel later in the day and that I could come show him some of my animation work. To be honest I was quite nervous, because this was all happening so fast. But I went with the offer, even though I honestly felt like I was intruding a bit!.. But he insisted, so I did...

The day before I had taken a quick picture with Sean, but I didn't really make an attempt to talk to him because I was half asleep due to only having 1 hour sleep prior to the first open day. So I figured this would be interesting, now that I was a bit more awake.

Anyways, I talked to Sean quite briefly and explained to him about Gamer Tonight and what I do. Then he asked "Who does the voices", to which I responded "A fellow in America by the name of Arin Hanson... I know Chris Sabat has seen this.. But have you by chance seen DRAGON BALL Z IN A NUTSHELL". He then started chuckling saying "I love DBZ in a nutshell! It's hilrious!".

Shortly after this the interview started and I was as quiet as a mouse, as I didn't want to disturb. It was quite an interesting talk, as Sean explained his stance on spirituality, drugs, role dedication, doing what you love and relationships. Although I wasn't saying a word, it was a very very interesting interview to listen to. It was a more personal interview then your general "WHAT WAS YOUR FAV EPISODE LOL". Gotta say, a lot of it was quite inspiring.. As I could relate to a lot of the stuff they were talking about. Sean came across as a very wise guy.

After this finished he signed my season 3 DBZ box set :P.

So yeah, that was one of many highlights of the weekend!

Now I'm off to Los Angeles in 3 hours to attend Anime-Expo then later in the month Comic-Con San Diego! :).. I'm really excited as this is the first time I've been to America. Should be a great holiday.

If you want to catch me there, I should be walking around in my GT shirt just like I did at Supanova.

Hope to see you there!

Also guys, we've reached another milestone. Gamer Tonight now has over 1 million visits since opening in November 2007 :) *CRUSHES SCOUTER*

If all goes to plan, we'll be seeing a Gamer Tonight table at Supanova Perth!

I most probably won't be selling anything, but I'll be promoting the site and talking to anyone that approaches me.

I've been busily working away on original content for the booth. I'm only at the hand drawn stages of the designs, but you can look at them over at my DeviantArt page.

Richard Farkas
Detris Riddleston
Amber Jaymon
Ryuken
Bites Nibbleton
Hurth Innerside
June Snatchem
Kwaidar

I did the requested "K3V1N vs Mark".. But I'm going to redo it, because I know I can do a lot better. I might work some of these into shirt designs for the Zazzle store. Though most of these are just for the back wall of my table. :)..

Hope to see some of you there! June 27th - 29th CLAREMONT SHOWGROUNDS PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA..

Be there ;O

A while ago a forum member brought to my attention a very big Australian pop-culture convention that's making it's way to my home town of Perth! The timing couldn't be ANY better. It's on the 28 - 29th! Which is great because I leave for Anime-Expo in LA on the 30th!

It also turns out that one of my favourite voice actors is attending this convention! Sean Schemmel! (the voice of Goku from Dragon Ball Z).

I have a pass for both days! Should be a bit of fun.

I'll be walking around in my GT shirt, because clearly I'm a fag who wants attention. :(
